The specification below provides the recommended improvements needed to improve product durability. They are ranked from bronze to gold based on the effectiveness of the change in improving durability, with bronze being the minimum and gold being the maximum.
Durable materials / stand / wall mount
Evidence of stand strength and rigidity
Improved reliability of components can reduce early returns and improve brand reputation which, in turn, can lower business costs and increase long-term sales.
To calculate overall cost savings for your business, use the WRAP cost/benefit analysis tool (currently in draft form and available on request).
Use of screws and bolts to secure stand and wall mount to chassis.
The use of steel screws and bolts should add a few pence as these parts are widely available ‘off the shelf’. If modifications to the chassis are required this would add additional cost.
Specifying a stronger material for stand and wall mount
The use of a stronger stand materials (such as steel reinforcing in the stand) should add only tens of pence to the unit cost assuming no tooling or chassis changes are required.
Physical testing of a small sample of production TVs (rather than QC of a percentage of each batch) is low cost when spread across a whole order.
